  • Teach, coordinate, and assess Accountancy modules (Financial Accounting, Organisational Ethics, and/or Managerial Accounting) offered by the School of Accountancy.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and innovation.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of your pedagogical approach in facilitating student learning to a diverse student body.
  • Undertake research and produce scholarly outputs in the field of Accountancy.
  • Participate in community engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant research communities, the accountancy profession, and professional bodies to establish collaborations and partnerships.
  • Perform related administrative duties in the School and Faculty.
  • Serve as a mentor to students and junior staff.
For Senior Lecturer, the following additional duties and responsibilities are applicable:
o Perform an academic leadership role in the School of Accountancy, including ensuring quality assurance and that the module offerings respond to the requirements of professional accountancy bodies (e.g., SAICA's CA2025 Competency Framework) and the changing world of work.
o Supervise postgraduate students with their Honours, master's, or PhD theses / research projects.Inherent Job Requirements:
Lecturer
  • A relevant master's degree on NQF Level 9 with specialisation in Accountancy
or
  • A Chartered Accountant (SA) holding a relevant Honours degree or equivalent (contract appointment: five years during which a master's degree on NQF Level 9 with specialisation in Accountancy MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position).
  • A minimum of three years relevant work experience in industry or teaching experience in a higher education environment.
  • A good academic record.
Senior Lecturer
  • PhD on NQF Level 10 with specialisation in Accountancy
or
  • A Chartered Accountant (SA) holding a relevant master's degree on NQF Level 9 with specialisation in Accountancy.
or
  • A Chartered Accountant (SA) holding a relevant Honours degree or equivalent and possessing a track record of academic leadership in professional programmes or possessing extensive practical experience (contract appointment: five years during which a master's degree on NQF Level 9 with specialisation in Accountancy MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position).
  • Proven experience in the successful facilitation of learning in the accountancy field.
  • Has made quality contributions to the advancement of knowledge within the higher education or accountancy-in-business field.
  • Has produced high quality publications or reports in the field of accountancy.
Recommendations:
  • Recent relevant lecturing experience at an institution of higher learning.
  • Proven research record of relevant publications in nationally accredited journals.
  • A commitment to registering for a PhD/ master's degree in accountancy at the first available
