The successful candidate must meet the following criteria to be appointed:
1. Be able to teach planning theory and urban politics. Having experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage: land use management, planning law, planning technologies, development economics, community participation, municipal governance and quantitative methods.
2. Undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching experience.
3. Capacity to supervise research reports at the tertiary level, preferably should have a record of research supervision at honours and masters level.
4. Evidence of organisational and/or leadership skills: experience of mentoring students and transformation in institutions of higher learning will be an advantage.
5. Good ICT skills especially the ability to navigate the terrain of online learning and blended learning.
6. Evidence of course or programme coordination at a university is preferred.
7. Eligibility for registration with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) is a requirement.
8. A PhD would be a strong advantage.
