Job Purpose
The objective is to fill the position of ISIXHOSA in the SP&FET Department with a staff member with expertise in this area.


Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum requirements:




A relevant Master's degree in isiXhosa, or Education related isiXhosa. An Honours degree in isiXhosa, or Education related isiXhosa. IsiXhosa as a major subject at undergraduate level. A relevant teaching qualification with isiXhosa as a major (preferable at secondary school level). Two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience in SP & FET at tertiary level or five (5) years' relevant teaching experience at school level. Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching isiXhosa.

A relevant Doctoral degree. Relevant research output. Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

Teaching isiXhosa in the SP & FET department. Teaching isiXhosa at honours level and supervising honours students. Curriculum development and other learning materials. Supervising students on teaching practice. Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision). Competence in the pedagogy of technology integration in learning, teaching, and assessment. Academic administration and development. Assessment and quality assurance. Networking with schools and other networks. Community engagement. Coaching and mentoring of students and staff. Student focus and student support in multilingual classrooms. Meticulous planning and organizing skills. Perform other functions as may be assigned by the head of department. Competencies
