LECTURER

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:Teaching at undergraduate level to basic medical science students, medical,
dentistry, radiography, physiotherapy, nursing and occupational therapy students; Teaching at postgraduate level;
Being involved in curriculum development and innovation;
Being actively involved and participating in research;
Supervising or co-supervising Honours and Master's students;
Publishing in peer-reviewed accredited journals and
Performing administrative and academic responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Master's degree in Physiology or Biochemistry;
Minimum of 2 accredited publications in peer-reviewed journals (ideally more, preferably in the last 3 years and in ISI journals)
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Mentoring skills;
Communication skills;
The ability to work independently and in a team;
Demonstrated potential to become an established researcher;
Some first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals;
Experience in interdisciplinary, national or international collaborative research;
Experience in basic sciences-related techniques (such as advanced cell culturing, molecular biology techniques or proteomics and bioinformatics) with biomedical relevance.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:PhD in Physiology;
At least 1 year teaching experience;
Valid driver's Licence.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
