Job Purpose
The objective is to fill the position of Lecturer: Foundation Phase in the Foundation Phase to teach in the field of Education, Professional Practice and Life Skills in the Foundation Phase on the Wellington Campus.


Please note that the position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans




Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum requirements:




A Master`s degree relevant to the field of Education or Professional Practice or Life Skills in the Foundation Phase. A teaching qualification relevant to the teaching of a combination of Education, Professional Practice, Life Skills and Academic Literacy at tertiary level. At least two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years' relevant experience in Foundation Phase at school level. Specialized knowledge of methodologies of the relevant teaching subjects. Fluency in Afrikaans (BEd tuition in Wellington is through Afrikaans).

Teaching in the field of Education, Professional Practice, Life Skills and Academic Literacy in Foundation Phase/Diploma in Education and Grade R. Curriculum development and other learning materials. Supervising students on teaching practice. Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision). Academic administration, development, and administration. Assessment and quality assurance. Networking with schools and other networks. Community engagement. Coaching and mentoring of students and staff. Learner focus. Meticulous planning and organising skills. Perform other functions as may be assigned by the head of department. Competencies
Expert subject knowledge (Technical & Professional knowledge and skills). Teaching in the relevant subject areas in the Foundation Phase department. Curriculum development and other learning materials. Supervising students on teaching practice. Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision). Academic administration, development, and administration. Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge. Assessment and Quality Assurance. Good work ethics and ability to manage work.
