Head: AcademicVega School is an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE). The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).The IIE Vega, Durban Campus has a vacancy for a Part-Time Lecturer for a Collaborative Design module in our Honours in Design Leadership programme. This will be for second semester of the 2025 academic year.Competencies Required:

• Organisational and time management skills

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• Ideal - Master of Arts or Masters of Technology in the following Design fields:

Graphic Design/Visual Communication Design/Information Design/Industrial Design/Product Design/Multimedia/Digital Design/MA in Digital Arts/MA in Fashion Design/Interior Design/Architecture/Game design / Interaction Design

• Masters in Brand Leadership with an Honours and Undergraduate qualifications in Design plus suitable experience as a designer in industry.
• Doctorates with Previous Design Qualifications and suitable experience as designer in industry

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

• Two years teaching a studio based module in a design field at Masters, Honours level or third year level. Experience in a collaborative space will be an advantage.
• Three to five years industry experience in any of the following - design lead, design manager, own design enterprise, creative director, project lead, senior designer or creative director.

Working Conditions:

• Please note that this is an Independent Contractor (part-time) role

Working Hours:

• Lectures take place Monday to Friday: 08:00 -17: 30 - specific days and times depend on the timetable for the specific module(s)

Salary:

• Hourly rate commensurate with experience and hours worked.
