Job Purpose
Develop and lead research under the CPUT focus areas. Contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the department to enhance learning according to the needs of the department's teaching and learning goals. Teach subjects related to Analytical Chemistry. Develop appropriate teaching material for the subjects being offered. Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent. A base qualification in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent. At least 2 years' relevant experience, one of which must be teaching in Higher Education. Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Learning and Teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate levels - Analytical Chemistry Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects Perform academic and administrative responsibilities in the department Participating in curriculum development Conduct student assessments Conduct research in line with the institution's focus areas Participate in quality assurance activities and compliance reporting Develop and maintain industry linkages Participate in Work-integrated learning and monitoring, Community Engagement & Service-Learning activities Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department Conduct laboratory sessions Perform 0th.er functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department Risk management and related activities Compliance reporting Competencies
Excellent command of the English language Technical/professional knowledge and skills Good interpersonal and high-level presentation and facilitation skills Good organizational and time management skills Good administrative skills Mentoring skills Teamwork and co-operation Strong learner focus and adaptability Quality-oriented work ethic Research and academic writing skills Communication skills Computer literacy in MS Office suite General Information
