The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and willing to make a significant contribution to the development of the Faculty.
The Department of Private Law is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision, research, and community engagement in the fields of private law (the law of persons, property law, the law of contract and family law) as well as legal pluralism. The successful candidate for the vacant position in the Department of Private Law will join the property law stream, with specific emphasis on land and environmental law, and be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Facilitation of learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Conducting research and publishing in the field of private/public law
Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students
Academic administration
Curriculum development and assessment
Community engagement
Minimum Requirements
LLM or equivalent in the field of private law, or a related field
The following will serve as a strong recommendation in being considered for appointment at lecturer level:
Registration for and progress with a doctorate in the field of private law (preferably property/environmental law), or a related field
Evidence of supervision experience at LLB or Master's level
Teaching experience at LLB or at Master's level
Evidence of peer reviewed research publications
a professional qualification and/or practical experience in the field of private law
