The position is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training under the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) and the successful candidate will be subject to the terms and conditions of the programme whilst being a permanent staff member of the University of the Free State. Duties and responsibilities:
  • Teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in acute and critical care medicine.
  • Creating a research programme focusing on acute and critical care medicine.
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research.
  • Providing administrative and managerial support to the department of Anaesthesiology.

Inherent requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Medicine, Para-medical field or Nursing (with emphasis on acute or critical care medicine), passed with an average of 70% (please attach academic record).
  • Obtaining a PhD in the field of acute or critical/ intensive care medicine, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.

  • Qualifications in health education.
  • Obtained PhD or PhD in progress.
  • Research expertise- proven by research outputs.
  • Already existing research network.
  • Administrative qualifications.
  • Managerial qualifications.
