To coordinate and provide administrative support for the effective implementation of learning, development, and talent management programs as directed by the manager. This role ensures the smooth execution of training and succession planning activities, maintains accurate records and reports, facilitates communication with stakeholders, and supports the integration and development of employees, interns, graduates, apprentices, and students in alignment with Tharisa's talent management and workforce objectives
Role Context
Talent Management
Coordinate the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and placement processes for interns, apprentices, learners, and students by working closely with the Human Resources (HR) Department to help bring new talent into the organisation
Coordinate the placement of interns, apprentices, learners, and students by coordinating with line supervisors to help arrange on-the-job practical exposure and coaching opportunities
Organise mentorship and coaching programs by facilitating the matching of experienced employees with interns, apprentices, learners, and students, in collaboration with the Learning and Development Team, to encourage knowledge transfer and skill development
Gather information and assist in monitoring and reporting on the progress of participants in training programs by collecting and tracking performance and development data and preparing feedback for educational institutions and management
Coordinate follow-up activities for training participants by maintaining regular contact with interns, apprentices, learners, and students, both in the workplace and at their training institutions, to help ensure they are meeting program outcomes within the required timeframes
Provide feedback and support to interns, apprentices, learners, and students to enhance their learning journey and offer guidance when challenges arise
Contribute to diversity and inclusion initiatives by helping to ensure all participants have equal access to development opportunities and by supporting a fair and inclusive environment
Gather and maintain accurate records and documentation of program participants, training progress, assessments, and outcomes to support compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure information is readily available when needed
Coordinate and support the succession planning process by assisting with the identification of critical roles, assessment of internal talent, maintenance of succession plans, and facilitation of development activities to ensure a strong leadership pipeline and organisational continuity
Training and Development Programs
Coordinates and supports the delivery of training and development initiatives by ensuring interns, apprentices, learners and/or students acquire the skills and competencies as required by Tharisa, to meet the objectives as stipulated by the training and development program
Collaborate with the HR Department, Learning and Development (L&D) teams, and any other relevant operational teams to identify the organisation's workforce needs and tailor development programs accordingly
Support the design of and implement structured training and development programs for interns, apprentices, learners and/or students that align with industry best practices and company goals
Assist in the review and monitoring of all training content, materials, and assessments; by conducting regular audits and ensuring they meet specific learning objectives and are suited to the business context, to ensure compliance with Tharisa Standards and regulatory requirements
Facilitate the evaluation of the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys and obtaining feedback from both line management and candidates, to make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement and enhance compliance with the Tharisa standards and regulatory requirements
Coordinate collaboration with educational institutions and training providers to ensure alignment between academic curriculum and industry requirements
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in mining and human resources development to continuously enhance training programs
Arrange and facilitate training in adherence to the training schedule, to ensure alignment with the overarching Tharisa development strategy and regulatory requirements while meeting the expectation of all key stakeholders
Administer and control the procurement process and ensure all logistical arrangements are made
Create and maintain up-to-date datasets of all current and previous learners, including status updates accompanies by dates.
Regulatory Compliance
Liaise with the relevant Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) to ensure that learning programs are aligned to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and the Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA) standard and requirements, while addressing non-compliance
Maintain accurate records of all training and development programs implemented, the attendees and of each individual's course completion outcomes, to ensure compliance with the requirements as determined by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO)
Maintain the internal Quality Management Systems (QMS), to ensure that every time a training or development program is implemented, the same information, methods, skills and controls are used and applied in a consistent manner
Resource Management
Assist in the preparation of learner budget forecasts for training and development activities
Assist in the monitoring and control of the learner budget to ensure alignment with the allocated budget
Coordinate mentorship relationship and mentorship training for mentors and mentees
Stakeholder Relations
Engage with all relevant Departments on issues of the area of specialisation, as directed by the L&D Specialist
Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders, where required, to achieve work objectives and to maintain relationships
Liaise with relevant stakeholders to address any challenges and/or concerns that may arise during the implementation of training and development programs/initiatives, to correct any shortcomings that have arisen
Liaise and communicate with Talent Resourcing department on recruitment process and assist in capturing applications on the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
Engage with executive PA and all learners for coordination of quarterly presentations to all HODs
Coordinate open days with local schools and SLP department as well as universities
Management of Change
Support organisational change initiatives by providing training and development resources to help employees and learners to adapt to new processes and systems
Facilitate workshops and sessions to build resilience and adaptability among learners
Qualifications:
Diploma (NQF6) or equivalent in Training and Development
Advantageous: Relevant Technical Qualifications in Engineering Trade, Process, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Advantageous: Registered with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) as an Assessor/ Moderator
Job-specific experience:
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Human Resources or Humanities, of which one (1) year should be in Human Resources Development (HRD) training within the mining industry or equivalent
Advantageous: Proficiency in additional languages formally recognised in South Africa
