Lead Mechanical Installations Technician

Job Description
Job Summary As a Lead Mechanical Installations Technician, you will take charge of the installation, replacement, and optimization of mechanical systems at a large transportation hub.
This includes sustainable upgrades to existing installations such as heating systems, cooling units, and sanitation.
You will:
- Lead small mechanical installation projects on-site, ensuring timely and high quality delivery.
- Collaborate with technicians, electricians, and service teams to ensure seamless installation and operational readiness.
- Guide and mentor junior technicians and third-party contractors.
- Monitor the progress of work and report technical improvements and safety observations.
- Work at various high-profile and technically challenging locations -- from aircraft hangars to technical facilities.
You're a hands-on technician who takes initiative, communicates clearly, and enjoys mentoring others. You understand the technical and logistical aspects of installation work and bring a solution-oriented mindset.
You also offer:
- A completed Red Seal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar (e.g., Fitter, HVAC Technician, Pipefitter).
- Several years of experience in mechanical installation work in commercial or industrial settings.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, HVAC, and sanitary installations.
- Leadership skills and the ability to train and support apprentices or subcontractors.
- A valid VCA certificate (or willingness to obtain it).
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English - and motivated to learn Dutch
