Position Overview:

The purpose of the Lead IT role will be:

  • To design, build, coordinate, and maintain the IT environment and related governance, risk and compliance strategy, frameworks, policies, procedures, processes, and programs across the company.
  • To be responsible for installing and maintaining all systems, networks, and programs deployed by the company.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure:
  • Plan, design, and implement the hardware, software, network, and telephony infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve any issues related to the above.
  • Assist in developing operating, installation, and upgrade procedures for communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage, and software.
  • Assist in documenting current hardware and network environments, including servers, PCs, IT security and network systems, videoconferencing, and telephony.
  • Research, analyse, and assist in developing documentation and new processes and procedures collaboratively.
  • Handle annual budget and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Developing standard operating procedures for IT systems
Business Continuity:
  • Define, develop, review, and implement the disaster recovery policy, and contribute to the development of the business continuity policy.
  • Report on the status of disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Ensure the security of data, network access, and backup systems.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Troubleshooting network and software issues.
  • Fixing hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Maintain and update system documentation
  • Maintain and enhance security, recover lost data, and resolve system crashes.
  • Maintain and update server software i.e. Windows Server
Supplier Management:
  • Oversee IT vendor selection and management, including hardware, software, networking, and telecommunications
  • Support the companyxe2x80x99s administrative functions, including purchasing and inventory control
IT Governance and Compliance:
  • Providing governance, risk, and compliance data insights to drive improvement across the IT system
  • Plan, develop, and implement processes and procedures for the identification and assessment of risk, and the management thereof, in the organisationxe2x80x99s information systems
  • Develop and implement information security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Work with external consultants as appropriate for independent security audits.
  • Providing insights and recommendations on risk management to the executive team
  • Define, develop, review, and implement the IT compliance framework in line with business strategy
Leadership:
  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training, and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performance
  • Responsible for managing the Help Desk and desktop support activities
Requirements
  • 10 years of relevant experience in an IT environment
  • 2 years of management experience
  • NQF 7: Degree or BTech in Computer Science, IT Auditing, Information Technology, or related field.
Technical/Business Competence:
  • Ability to translate technical or complex concepts into user-friendly language.
  • Ability to collaborate, working closely with both functional and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to remain flexible as priorities change, adaptable to change, and able to accept ambiguity.
  • Effective communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Established skills in time management, multi-tasking, and prioritisation of work
  • Knowledge of the full stack of Microsoft products, including Server, AD, Widows, etc.
  • Managing IT internal and external resources
