Job Summary Our client is the leading provider of cell captive and alternative risk transfer solutions, enabling organisations to manage risk more effectively and innovate with confidence. Their unique structures allow clients to operate their own insurance products within a secure, ring-fenced environment -- without the complexity of establishing a licensed insurer.
This role offers genuine strategic influence. You'll embed a data-driven culture across the organisation, guide senior decision-making, and work with modern cloud-based technologies in a progressive, future-focused environment.
This is a senior leadership position where your expertise will directly shape the future of data, analytics, and governance across the enterprise. You'll define standards, influence investment decisions, and ensure data is trusted, compliant, and commercially valuable.
Key Responsibilities:

• Define and drive the enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy, aligned to business objectives
• Lead and embed robust data governance, quality, and compliance frameworks across all business units
• Establish and enforce data architecture standards to ensure consistency, transparency, and scalability
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing data and analytics team, fostering accountability and collaboration
• Partner with senior stakeholders to translate business priorities into scalable data solutions

Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Master's degree preferred

Experience:

• 8+ years' experience in data, analytics, or technology roles within insurance, banking, or telecommunications
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a people leadership role
• Proven success bridging business and technology to deliver enterprise-wide data initiatives

Skills

• Strong hands-on expertise in Azure Synapse, SQL, and data integration platforms
• Solid understanding of South African data governance, regulatory, and compliance requirements
• Demonstrated ability to execute analytics use cases and lead effective data governance frameworks

Non-Negotiables:

• Proven track record in implementing enterprise-scale data governance and analytics frameworks
• Ability to influence at executive level and drive change across complex organisations
