We are seeking a highly experienced and reliable Laundry Attendant / Laundry Supervisor with
a minimum of five (5) years' experience
in commercial, hotel, hospital or institutional laundry operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient, high-quality laundry processing in line with company and client standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
Receive, sort and prepare soiled linen, uniforms and other textile items according to fabric type, colour and level of contamination.
Inspect all laundry items for stains, damage or required repairs; report defects immediately.
Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, pressing/ironing equipment and stain-treatment systems.
Apply correct washing formulas, chemicals, temperatures and machine settings for various fabrics.
Ensure high-quality output: wash, dry, press/iron, fold and package cleaned items neatly and timeously.
Maintain accurate records of items received, processed and returned; manage daily laundry logs.
Oversee and maintain stock levels of detergents, chemicals, packaging materials and other supplies.
Maintain cleanliness, organisation and safety of laundry areas, equipment and storage rooms.
Ensure all health, hygiene and safety protocols are strictly followed (including handling of contaminated linen, PPE usage and chemical safety).
If applicable, coordinate collection and delivery of laundry items to clients, wards, or departments.
Train, guide or supervise junior staff where required to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
3. Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 5 years' proven experience
working in a commercial laundry environment (hotel, hospital, industrial or outsourced laundry).
Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of professional laundry processes, chemicals, stain-removal methods and fabric-care procedures.
Ability to operate industrial laundry machinery safely and efficiently.
Physically fit -- able to lift heavy loads, push trolleys, stand for extended periods and work in warm/humid environments.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy in counting and logging items, and ability to maintain high hygiene standards.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet daily production targets.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong reliability, honesty and professionalism.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays depending on operational requirements.
4. Advantageous Competencies
Experience in hospital or healthcare laundry (infection-control procedures).
Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
Basic record-keeping or stock-control abilities.
Understanding of OHSA and hygiene compliance requirements.
5. Working Conditions
Fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Exposure to heat, humidity, chemicals and industrial laundry equipment.
Requires repetitive movement, lifting, bending, standing and handling heavy bags/loads.
May require shift work, weekends or overtime based on client contracts.
