Job Title: Landscape Architectural Architect

About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Landscape Architectural Architect to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will work on a range of landscape design, urban design, environmental planning, and public realm projects, contributing to both conceptual design and technical project delivery. This role requires strong creative ability, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning

• Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed landscape designs for residential, commercial, public, and mixed-use projects.
• Prepare masterplans, site layouts, planting plans, and detailed construction drawings.
• Produce high-quality visualisations, presentations, and design reports for clients and stakeholders.

Technical & Project Delivery

• Produce technical documentation including tender drawings, specifications, and Bill of Quantities support.
• Ensure all landscape designs comply with local planning regulations, environmental guidelines, and sustainability standards.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor construction progress, and provide technical guidance as needed.

Project Coordination

• Work closely with architects, engineers, urban designers, environmental consultants, and contractors.
• Attend project meetings, client presentations, and site visits.
• Coordinate project timelines and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.

Environmental & Sustainability Considerations

• Integrate ecological principles, water-wise planting, climate-responsive design, and biodiversity enhancement into projects.
• Support environmental compliance and submission documentation where required.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or Architecture with a landscape focus.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience (depending on seniority level required).
• Proficiency in design and technical software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of South African plant species, local climatic conditions, and water-wise landscaping principles.
• Experience working on built projects in South Africa.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel for site visits.

Key Competencies

• Strong design flair with excellent graphic, conceptual, and technical ability.
• Knowledge of local planning regulations, SANS standards, and construction methodologies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills.

Preferred (Advantageous)

• SACAP or SACLAP registration (Professional or Candidate).
• Experience working on urban design or public realm projects.
• Knowledge of sustainable and ecological design strategies.
• Experience in coastal, arid, or indigenous landscape design.
