Laboratory Technician: Electrical Engineering (3 Month Contract)

Job Description

The person will be required to provide professional technical support to meet the needs of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A National Diploma/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with knowledge and experience in circuit design, electrical systems, workshop machines and fault-finding of electrical and computer systems.
  • Minimum 2 years Electrical Engineering laboratory working experience in a tertiary institution.
  • Knowledge and experience in circuit design, electrical systems, workshop machines and fault-finding of electrical and computer systems.
  • IT support and computer repair related experience.
  • Good track record in demonstrating and supervising of Electrical Engineering practicals in a tertiary institution.
  • Sound engineering knowledge in problem solving.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Schedule, coordinate and participate in projects as required by the electrical department.
  • Maintenance and repair of lab equipment and consumables in line with the department's requirements.
  • Active engagement in training and career development.
  • Assist staff and students with academic and industrial projects.
  • Provide appropriate academic and laboratory support.
  • Any additional departmental duties as assigned by the HoD.
