To create a greener future by providing low-carbon fuels to the transport sector and aiding in reducing global carbon emissions.Job TitleLaboratory TechnicianLocation of the positionRustenburg, North West, South AfricaReports ToThe Laboratory Technician will report to site managerJob OverviewLaboratory Technician will work closely with Site Manager to ensure that the biology in the biodigesters are effectively managed. The Laboratory technician will ensure chemical levels on site are effectively managed. This is a hands-on role where a willingness to learn and commitment to safety culture will be crucial.Responsibilities and DutiesSample Collection and Analysis:Collect biogas, digestate, and other relevant samples from various stages of the biogas production process.Perform laboratory tests to analyse the composition, quality, and performance of biogas, digestate, and biofertilizers.Utilize advanced analytical instruments to measure parameters such as pH, gas composition, volatile solids, nutrient content, and other relevant indicators.Process Monitoring and Optimization:Regularly monitor biogas production parameters and identify any deviations or abnormalities.Collaborate with the operations team to optimize process conditions for maximum biogas production efficiency and quality.Data Recording and Reporting:Maintain accurate and organized records of laboratory analyses, test results, and operational data.Prepare detailed reports on laboratory findings and process performance for management and regulatory compliance.Quality Control and Assurance:Ensure that the biogas, digestate, and biofertilizer products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements.Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of enhanced production protocols.Equipment Maintenance:Regularly calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.Safety and Compliance:Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and regulations within the laboratory environment.Promote a culture of safety awareness and best practices.Requirements & QualificationsDiploma or degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related fieldGeneral working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);Valid driverxe2x80x99s license.Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in the biogas, wastewater treatment, or renewable energy sector would be advantageous.Familiarity with analytical techniques and instruments used in environmental analysis.Knowledge of biogas production processes, waste management, and sustainable energy concepts is advantageous.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests and recording data.Excellent communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.
