We're on the hunt for a Junior to Mid-Level AV Systems Designer to join a collaborative team that delivers innovative audiovisual solutions for workspaces, performance venues, learning environments, and beyond. You'll play a key role in transforming ideas into reality-supporting everything from early concept design through to system documentation and coordination.
? What You'll Be Doing

• Draft system schematics, functional block diagrams, AV floor plans, and reflected ceiling layouts.
• Assist with the design of audio, video, and control systems-including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, and conferencing tools.
• Translate architectural drawings into integrated AV layouts.
• Support needs analysis, product research, and preparation of technical specifications.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless AV integration.
• Review technical documents, cut sheets, and shop drawings for accuracy.
• Help produce documentation for tender packages (BoQs, specifications) and respond to design queries (RFIs).
• Support QA reviews of installations, ensuring they meet design intent and standards.
• Contribute to internal documentation templates and symbol libraries.

? What You Bring to the Table

• 2-4 years of experience in a technical AV role, drafting, or AV design support capacity.
• A strong grasp of AV fundamentals: signal flow, displays, projection, audio distribution, conferencing, etc.
• Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting platforms.
• Ability to read architectural plans and coordinate AV layouts within them.
• Excellent attention to detail-both in design and documentation.
• Strong technical curiosity and a willingness to learn fast.

? Qualifications & Tools

• AVIXA CTS certification - required (or willingness to attain it quickly).
• Degree or diploma in AV, Electrical/Sound Engineering, IT, or related technical field preferred.
• Familiarity with tools like D-Tools, Bluebeam, or Stardraw is a plus.
• Knowledge of AV standards (AVIXA, ISO, SANS) is advantageous but not mandatory-training provided.

? Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Have, Not Required)

• Exposure to conferencing systems (Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms).
• Basic knowledge of acoustic principles and AV networking.
• Understanding of AV control platforms (e.g. Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS).
• Experience with 3D modeling or visualization tools (SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max).
