Job Description

An exciting vacancy exists in Mazars Gqeberha for a Junior Tax Consultant (VAT) in the Tax Consulting department. The purpose of incumbent would be to assist in executing and acquiring client assignments under supervision of the senior team members, to carry out research relating to a variety of tax issues (covering the full spectrum of taxes) and to compile appropriate reports/opinions/letters and other documents.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to VAT related reports / opinions / letters (including correspondence with SARS)

• Conduct tax research that is relevant and meets the requirements of the brief provided by manager

• Perform VAT calculations and reconciliations

• Assist as required with VAT returns, VAT objections/appeals and VDP applications as part of larger assignments

• Completion of VAT returns, tax registrations forms and other compliance related assignments

• Accurate identification of variance between assessment and VAT return

• Assist with identifying appropriate actions based on assessment variance and discuss this with senior team member or partner

• Assist with attending to VAT verifications/audits instituted by SARS

• Assist with performing VAT component of tax due diligence reports

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 xe2x80x93 2 yearsxe2x80x99 experience focusing on VAT consulting (non-negotiable)

• Accounting or tax qualification (or studying towards such a qualification)

• Good working knowledge of VAT legislation and VAT case law

• SAICA Articles or SAIPA Articles would be advantageous
