Our client is a leading organization in the engineering and manufacturing sector, and they are seeking to appoint a Junior Research and Design Engineer to be based at their office in the Northern Suburbs.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• Eng Mechanical degree
• 1-3 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a R&D product development environment

Requirements:

• A strong interest in self-development and the exploration of new technologies, methodologies, and problem-solving approaches.
• The ability to analyze and interpret experimental data and to draw meaningful conclusions.
• The ability to be adaptable in order to be efficient in a dynamic R&D environment.
• The ability to analyze complex problems, propose creative solutions and troubleshoot product development issues.
• Effective communication skills to corroborate with cross functional teams, present ideas, and document progress.
• Capability to work corroboratively within a cross functional engineering team.
• Own reliable transport.
• Fully bilingual in Afrikaans & English

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the tracking of project milestones, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
• Product Support and Development configuration.
• Route cause analysis, Product testing and Report writing.
• Identify technical challenges, propose solutions, and assist in troubleshooting issues that arise during the development process.
• Product and machine improvement initiatives.
• Cross team collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supplier visits
• Prototyping and design support; Corroborate with senior engineer to create designs and prototypes, considering factors like functionality, manufacturing, stakeholder requirement, and cost effectiveness.
• Involvement in the test phase and manufacturing phase.
• Effectively communicate ideas, progress, and challenges with team members and contribute to brainstorming sessions and idea generation for new product concepts.
• Analysing data of a verbal and numerical nature and other sources of information, breaking information down into components.
• Generating workable solutions to problems.
• Learning new tasks quickly, remembering information and gathering data for effective decision-making.
• Focusing on customer needs and satisfaction, setting high standards for quality and quantity, and consistently achieving set goals.
