To establish, maintain and ensure adherence to the Food Safety & Quality Standards as required in the facility at all times, and to manage all resources required to achieve this objective.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Safety and Food Safety Systems:
Ensure facility complies at all times with relevant audit standard.
Take responsibility in terms of quality and legislative compliance for all for all products produced inside the facility.
Manage all aspects of the laboratory and product testing, including all staff and resources.
Raise non-conformances (internal and for customer complaints) to address any issues relating to a deviation from the system, or relating to products manufactured that may be unsafe or consumption. Investigating root causes and implementing corrective and preventative action.
Facilitating Customer visits and factory tours.
Assist all representatives on a technical Food Quality level should it be required.
Product Quality:
Ensure that all products manufactured are of unfailing quality, as per product
specifications and customer expectation.
Ensure functionality of all final products are maintained as per their intended use (preservative levels, anti-oxidant levels, curing salt levels and product colour).
Ensure procedures in the quality laboratory are followed to ensure products adhere to specification (Taste tests, SO2, nitrite tests, COA's etc.).
Investigate quality issues that arise and implement corrective and preventative actions
Ensure that all raw materials conform to specification as per production and customer requirements.
Ensure all external testing requirements are fulfilled.
Human Resources:
Actively manage all staff and conduct performance reviews of all staff
Manage disciplinary procedures, as per the disciplinary code.
Manage and take responsibility for all laboratory staff
Other:
Communicate and problem solve issues with customers, as well as with customers of other parts of the Exim Group. Handle all customer complaints personally.
As per operational requirements, you may be required to perform ad hoc tasks from time to time.
Oversee the operational projects until handover
You may be required to perform other tasks as and when operationally required
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
Relevant Quality or similar qualification
Ideally a National Diploma in Food Technology or Bsc Degree Food Science
Min 1-2 years in a Quality Manager role
Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English)
Own transport
Must be willing to work night shift when required
