Job Title: Junior Legal Counsel

Purpose of the Job
Junior Legal Counsel at Aramex provides legal support and guidance on various legal matters to ensure compliance and mitigate risks. This role assists the legal team in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, as well as advising on regulatory issues.

Job responsibilities

• Dealing with general day to day operational legal enquiries from the business units/departments;
• Assisting in reviewing, drafting, advising and negotiating on a diverse range of commercial contracts;
• Assisting in drafting and reviewing corporate documents, including board/shareholders meeting minutes/resolutions, POA's, MOA's, licenses, etc.
• Organizing board and shareholder meetings including taking minutes at such meetings;
• Undertaking general corporate work (such as registration and liquidation of companies, share transfers, etc.) and maintaining up-to-date corporate documents of the entities he/she oversees;
• Dealing with and advising on legal, employment, regulatory and commercial matters, in consultation and conjunction with Regional Legal Director;
• Coordinating with external lawyers in obtaining legal opinions;
• Assisting with customer complaints;
• Conducting legal research and analysis;
• Contributing to knowledge management and other research projects and initiatives as and when required;
• Handling dispute resolution and litigation management, and overseeing the work of external counsel as necessary;
• Identifying, analyzing and assessing legal/contractual risk in connection with business transactions, including in connection with internal approvals to assist approvers in making decisions on an informed basis;
• Dealing with ad hoc legal matters.

Job Requirements - Experience and Education

• Bachelor of Law degree from a reputable university with articles completed;
• Minimum of 2 years' post-articles experience in a law firm or corporate environment;
• Knowledge of the laws that apply to shipping, transportation and/or logistics is a plus, but not required;
• Exposure and/or knowledge of the courier and/or logistics industry is desirable;
• Commercial mindset;
• Must be a self-driven, resourceful, results and deadline oriented, and have a high multi-task proficiency;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain legal matters to non-lawyers;
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Power Point, Word, and Excel;
• South African citizen or must be legally able to live and work permanently in South Africa.
