To provide radio-analytical services to the NNR for the dependent verification purposes. Perform radio-analysis for alpha, beta and gamma emitter using alpha spectrometry, gross alpha/beta counter and gamma spectrometry.
Minimum requirements
Minimum NQF level 7 in Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry
Minimum of 4 years' laboratory working experience in Radiological Laboratory or Chemistry Laboratory experience in radioactivity measurements or chemistry Laboratory
Working knowledge on sample preparation techniques of environmental and biological matrices for radioanalysis, such as soil/ sediments, water and biota
Duties and Responsibilities
Sample receipt, preparation and counting
Assist with calibration and maintenance of peripheral instrumentation and facilities
Assist in the purchasing of laboratory consumables and other items
Assist with the administration of samples
Assist with method development and method validation
Perform routine sample preparation tasks assigned for the Alpha Spectrometry/Gamma Spectrometry/Gross Alpha /Beta techniques
Assist with the maintenance of general Laboratory facilities according to the ISO 17025 Quality Management System
Maintain general safety of facilities according to the appropriate Safety management system.
Assist with radiation & chemical safety in the lab and radioactive- & chemical waste management

Computer literate in Word Processing and Spreadsheet applications
Technical report writing and presentation skills
Time management and attention to details
