Job Description

We are looking for a Junior Laboratory Analyst to join our team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career scientist who is looking for hands-on exposure to routine analyses, quality control procedures, and lab operations in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



Your primary responsibility will be completing routine analyses, associated records and maintaining the accreditation status of the lab.

Sample Management:

Perform advanced preparation and processing of samples for analysis, ensuring sample integrity.

Routine Analysis:

Conduct routine analyses (e.g., ELISA, DNA extractions, PCR) accurately and efficiently, following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Quality Control:

Participate in all quality control procedures and proficiency testing, including checks on reagents and equipment.

Data & Administration:

Meticulously capture, verify, and manage all laboratory data and results. Assist with generating reports and maintaining accurate laboratory records.

Team Support:

Act as a deputy for other analysts as required, providing support and ensuring continuity of service delivery.

Lab Maintenance:

Assist with equipment calibration, general laboratory housekeeping, and managing consumable stock levels.

REQUIREMENTS:



Essential Qualification:

A BSc degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.

Essential Experience:

Demonstrable practical experience in a "wet lab" environment (e.g., from university practicals, research projects, or vacation work) is essential.

Advantageous Techniques:

Any practical experience with techniques like ELISA, PCR, DNA extraction.

A great fit for this role is someone who has:

Exceptional accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with MS Access or a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is a bonus. Self-motivated, with a high degree of initiative and a strong desire to learn. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities. Highly organised, methodical, and punctual. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). A positive, collaborative attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
