Job Description


Our client is looking for a Junior Fleet Controller who ill be responsible for assisting in the effective management and coordination of the company's fleet of vehicles. The role involves ensuring the smooth operation of the fleet, monitoring vehicle maintenance, assisting in route planning, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. The position often serves as a stepping stone to more senior roles within the Fleet Management department. Responsibilities:

  • Regularly monitor and track the location, status, and condition of the fleet using GPS and other tracking systems.
  • Ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and meet all safety and compliance standards.
  • Assist in planning and optimizing routes for timely delivery and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with drivers and logistics teams to ensure schedules are adhered to.
  • Assist in scheduling routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs for the fleet.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle service histories, inspections, and repairs.
  • Ensure that all vehicle documents (insurance, road tax, permits, etc.) are up to date and compliant with legal requirements.
  • Assist in conducting regular audits to ensure adherence to regulatory and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, maintenance personnel, and management.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on fleet status, maintenance schedules, and other relevant metrics.
  • Assist in monitoring fuel consumption and other costs to ensure the economical use of resources.
  • Help identify opportunities for cost-saving and process improvements.
Key Skills:
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to identify trends and efficiency opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in planning, scheduling, and multitasking to manage various aspects of fleet management.
  • Comfortable using fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Meticulous in maintaining records and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ability to quickly identify issues and coordinate efforts to find solutions.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field is preferred. However, candidates with relevant experience and a High School Diploma may also be considered.
  • 3 years experience in fleet management or logistics can be beneficial, entry-level candidates with a strong aptitude for the key skills mentioned above may also be considered.
  • Experience with fleet management software or GPS tracking systems is a plus.
