THE FOLLOWING POSITION IS AVAILABLE AT SIZA WATER:
JUNIOR ENGINEER (REF: PMU/03/2025)
The successful applicant is required to perform the following key functions, amongst other duties:
Assist with the design and drafting of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment plants.
Conduct field investigations and inspections to assess asset condition, performance, and service delivery risks.
Support in the preparation of technical documentation, including feasibility reports, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Collaborate in project management activities: prepare work schedules, monitor budgets, and compile project progress reports.
Monitor contractor performance, ensuring compliance with approved design specifications, project milestones, and quality standards.
Participate in water quality sampling, hydraulic data gathering, and performance analysis to support operational decisions.
Engage with consultants, contractors, community stakeholders, and internal departments during the planning and execution of projects.
Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, SANS standards, municipal by-laws, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Maintain familiarity with emerging engineering technologies, digital design tools, and sustainable infrastructure practices.

The applicant is required to have:
1. Qualifications
BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
A valid code 8 drivers' license.
Registration as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA (or in process) is advantageous.
2. Experience
2 years of experience in a similar position.
3. Skills
Basic knowledge of hydraulic network analysis and civil design principles.
Exposure to engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Epanet, or similar platforms).
Proficient in Microsoft 360 Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
