Job Description
A leading financial analytics firm is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate or Junior Data Scientist to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your analytical and technical skills to real-world financial challenges, including fraud detection, client retention, and portfolio optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, clean, and transform financial data to ensure accuracy and reliability for analysis.
- Assist in developing and refining machine learning models to drive predictive insights and business value.
- Support the creation and enhancement of anomaly detection and automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Design and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI to visualize trends and communicate insights effectively.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, analysts, and business teams to deliver data-driven solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Continuously identify opportunities to optimize data workflows and enhance the quality and accessibility of insights.
- A Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field
- 0-2 years' experience (interns welcome!)
- Proficiency in Python (pandas, matplotlib, and scikit-learn)
- Basic SQL and familiarity with Power BI and Excel
- Strong analytical thinking and communication skills
