Role Purpose
Equilibrium Discretionary Fund Manager is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as a Client Portfolio Manager. The incumbent will play a dual role, combining business development with technical expertise. This role supports the Head of Equilibrium Distribution by taking out the Equilibrium message and building relationships with distribution channels and financial advisers. The role's primary focus will be implementing Equilibrium's sales and growth strategy, client investment consulting and client relationship management.
Requirements
Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Investments, Economics or related field.
  • CFP, CFA Level 1 or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience Required
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Investment Management, Investment Business Development or related field.
  • Experience in investment consulting or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of investment products and portfolio management.
Duties & Responsibilities
Business Development (70% of KPI's)
  • Drive and deliver on the Equilibrium's purpose and strategy.
  • Support the Head of Distribution to deliver on sales targets, this includes conducting sales activities, including client meetings, presentations, and follow-ups throughout South Africa
  • Bolster support for the DFM and Investment Consulting value proposition across various LISP platforms.
  • Enable sales channels with the required knowledge and skills to position our capability.
  • Build the profile of Equilibrium in the market using traditional and disruptive processes.
  • Implementation of the distribution strategy to increase net flows into Equilibrium.
  • Actively disseminating the company's message, fostering connections with distribution channels and financial advisers, and contributing to the implementation of the business's sales and growth strategy.
  • Enhance support for financial advisers by developing solution-oriented content, analyzing data to reinforce investment messages, and facilitating their transition into portfolios.
  • Must be able to generate new and imaginative solutions in the workplace, try different ways to deal with business problems with unique techniques.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the business with particular focus on increasing the transition rate into the model portfolios and fund of funds.
  • In partnership with Marketing, arrange events and campaigns to grow both the Equilibrium brand and the assets.
  • Represent Equilibrium at conferences, investment panels, asset management, and industry events.
  • Analyze and identify trends, using insights to facilitate the transition of assets into Equilibrium solutions
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand Equilibrium's client base.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
  • Prepare and present proposals to potential clients, showcasing Equilibrium's value proposition.
  • Support the portfolio managers and enhance client relationships
  • Travel as needed to meet with clients and attend regional meetings.
  • Provide authoritative, expertise and guidance to clients and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the process of negotiating objective and realistic service level agreements, monitor appropriateness and recommend adjustments
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively engage with key internal stakeholders to identify changing client needs and make recommendations to align service offering with client needs.
  • Manage a client service excellence culture which builds enduring relationships and allows the team to provide exceptional client service.
  • Ensure delivery of agreed deliverables and service level agreements made with clients and stakeholders to ensure that client expectations are met.
Junior Portfolio Management related responsibilities (30% of KPI's)
  • Client Report Backs: Prepare and deliver regular performance reports to clients to discuss portfolio Performance and investment strategies, ensuring transparency and clear communication.
  • Portfolio Construction Support: Assist in the development and management of investment portfolios, aligning with clients' objectives and risk profiles.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis on investment opportunities and provide insights to support portfolio decisions.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the senior portfolio management team, as needed.
  • Support the portfolio managers by taking on additional reporting tasks for mid to smaller clients.
  • Provide support in the preparation of investment reports and presentations.
  • Stay updated on market trends and investment opportunities to provide informed recommendations.
  • Monitor and analyse portfolio performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Support the implementation of investment strategies and portfolio rebalancing.
