Junior Application Support Engineer required in Durban.





HLC is recruiting a Junior Application Support Engineer to join a fast-growing technology company specialising in innovative software solutions.



The successful candidate will support day-to-day system operations, assist with database management, and ensure the smooth running of applications that support high-volume business processes.



This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated IT professional with a strong technical foundation in SQL who enjoys problem-solving, collaboration, and continuous learning.



Key Responsibilities:




Manage and support daily application operations and campaign databases. Import, validate, and maintain data accuracy and integrity. Perform SQL scripting, query optimisation, and performance monitoring. Troubleshoot database and system issues, escalating where necessary. Support system integrations (APIs, SFTP, automation tools). Assist in database backups, restores, and security management. Collaborate with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to ensure system efficiency and alignment with business goals. Test new functionality and provide feedback to improve application performance.

Minimum Requirements:




IT Diploma (minimum) or IT Degree (preferred). Minimum 1 year of experience using SQL. Experience within a contact centre or BPO environment (advantageous). Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and basic project management principles.

Technical Skills:




MS SQL Server, SQL scripting, and query writing. SSRS (SQL Reporting Services) and data extraction for reporting. Familiarity with APIs, schedulers, and SFTP processes. Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Highly organised with strong time-management and prioritisation skills.
