We are seeking a diligent and motivated Junior Accountant to support our finance department. This entry-level position is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day financial transactions, record-keeping, and general accounting duties to ensure accurate financial control and reporting within the company.
Salary: R10,000 per month.
Key Responsibilities:
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Bookkeeping and Data Entry: Capturing and processing daily financial transactions, including sales invoices, purchase orders, payments, and receipts, into the accounting software (e.g., Pastel/Sage).
Creditors and Debtors: Assisting with the management of the creditors and debtors ledgers, including reconciling statements and following up on outstanding invoices.
Bank Reconciliations: Performing daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations to ensure accuracy between the bank statements and the general ledger.
Expense Management: Processing staff claims, petty cash, and corporate card expenses, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
Administrative Support: Filing and archiving financial documentation, managing correspondence, and providing general administrative support to the Financial Manager.
Reporting Assistance: Assisting in the preparation of month-end closing procedures and supporting documentation for management reporting.
Inventory Support: Liaising with the operations team to reconcile inventory counts and stock valuation as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A relevant Tertiary Qualification (Diploma or Degree) in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping is required.
0-1 year of practical experience in a finance or accounting role.
Working knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., double-entry bookkeeping).
Experience with a recognised accounting software package (e.g., Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks) is highly advantageous.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Excellent numerical ability and strict attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
