Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting:
- Capture and process cashbook transactions.
- Perform bank reconciliations for local and foreign currency accounts.
- Process supplier invoices and employee expense claims.
- Assist with maintaining the fixed asset register.
- Prepare monthly journal entries (e.g., accruals and provisions) under supervision.
- Keep financial records accurate, organised, and up to date.
- Assist with VAT documentation and reconciliations.
- Accounts Payable:
- Process invoices and prepare payments.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations.
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve basic queries.
- Maintain up-to-date supplier records.
- Matric (Grade 12) with Accounting and Core Mathematics.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 12 years accounting or bookkeeping experience (advantageous but not essential).
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient in MS Excel and computer literate.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Eagerness to learn and develop within the finance function.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with accounting software (Sage Intacct advantageous).
- Familiarity with foreign currency transactions (advantageous).
- Ability to work under guidance and meet deadlines.
