Junior 3D Animator & Motion Designer

YES for Youth Programme

About the Opportunity

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a creative and tech-savvy youth to gain real workplace experience in digital animation and motion design.
You will help bring our training and advisory content to life through

animated videos, characters, and digital avatars

for our online learning and communication platforms.

You'll work with experienced consultants and content developers to transform learning material into

engaging, visually rich experiences

that support skills development across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Create

3D characters, avatars, and animation sequences

for e-learning and training content. Develop

motion graphics and short explainer videos

aligned with brand style and learning objectives. Support the design of

digital avatars and bots

for use on Skeelly's online platform. Collaborate with content developers and designers to storyboard and visualise scripts. Render, edit, and export

high-quality video content

for digital platforms. Assist in exploring

AI-assisted animation tools

and new design technologies. Maintain organised project files and contribute to an efficient creative workflow.

Minimum Requirements

Must qualify for the

YES for Youth Programme

(South African citizen, aged 18-35, currently unemployed). Completed (or in the final year of) a qualification in: 3D Animation Motion Design Multimedia / Digital Media Production Game Art / Visual Communication Film or Video Production (with animation component)

Technical Skills

Working knowledge of

Blender

,

Maya

, or similar 3D software. Familiar with

Adobe After Effects

,

Premiere Pro

, or other motion graphics tools. Basic understanding of

character rigging, rendering, and visual storytelling

. Advantageous: Exposure to

AI avatar tools

(e.g. Character Creator, MetaHuman, Synthesia).

Soft Skills

Creative and curious, with a strong interest in animation and technology. Eager to learn and contribute to real projects. Attention to detail and pride in delivering polished work. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Reliable, self-disciplined, and open to mentorship.

Development & Learning Outcomes

During the YES placement, the youth will gain experience in:

Applying 3D and motion design to real client and training projects. Understanding digital content production workflows. Using animation to enhance e-learning and user engagement. Collaborating in a professional digital transformation environment. Building a professional creative portfolio.
