Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):

Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America's largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.

In this role, you will be responsible for reporting to project management and providing operational and technical support to assigned construction superintendents, construction personnel, including vessels, regarding construction processes, procedures and requirements related to hoisting.

Major Responsibilities:

Coordinating with the Construction Superintendents, Supervisors and the Project Hoisting Lead Engineer to validate the labor and rigger/heavy transport qualification requirements. Reviewing weekly scheduled work plans with discipline superintendents to ensure the project has the heavy lifting/hauling resources available with the appropriate qualifications to support the planned scopes of work. Supervising and coordinating daily with direct contracting and subcontracting representatives in hoisting/heavy transport construction activities. Possessing responsibility for the safe execution of heavy lifting/hauling activities in accordance with applicable SWPPS and legislative codes/standards. Coordinating and ensuring the availability of cranes, SPMT or other HH/HL equipment and hoisting hardware necessary to executing the lifting and transportation activities. Verifying that the riggers/heavy haulage personnel assigned to each task have the necessary skills to executing the job safely and effectively. Working with the project training team to ensure that the hoisting/heavy hauling training programs are properly configured and executed by qualified instructors. Supervising vessel personnel during field assessments and observations, ensuring that best practices are used. Performing hoisting/heavy transport safety assessments and providing reports to project supervision/leadership. Monitoring the compliance of hoisting operations with approved hoisting plans and applicable codes. Assisting in maintaining contact with subcontractors regarding scope of work and technical reviews of submissions for heavy/oversized lifting and hauling jobs. Working closely with security personnel regarding safety procedures and requirements related to hoisting.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of experience in the discipline of supervision of rigging construction.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

A broad-based advanced theoretical knowledge in lifting/hauling equipment and techniques. Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and legislation: The candidate is required to have complete knowledge and be familiar with the legislation and code that apply to lifting devices, hoisting and heavy load transportation operations. Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Manual of the Bechtel Project and Core Processes as regards the area of responsibility. Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program. Previous experience in Bechtel (preferable).
