Jnr Field Technician
Job Description
Consulting company based in Tokai, is looking for a Field Assistant in Underground Scanning and Contaminated Land Field. Our client is looking for a young technician who is bright, physically fit, good with their hands. The position typically will involve fieldwork associated with the Underground Services Scanning, EIA department and the contaminated land section. You will have a minimum of 1 - 2 years' experience.
You will be responsible for but not limited to:
Operation of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) equipment
Operation of ERA related plant and equipment including skimmers, VER rigs, jack hammer, hand augers, etc.
Recovery of soil and water samples using defined protocols and the preparation and submission of these to the laboratory
Environmental monitoring of water, effluent and soil
Report writing
Maintenance of remediation and recovery equipment
Maintenance and care of PPE and equipment as issued to you
General assistance at the SEC office and on sites
Any other activities that may be reasonably required
Environmental Control Officer work may also be required
Education:
Matric
Diploma / Certificate will be adv
Highly Computer Literate MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Driver's License a must
Skills:
Fully bilingual -English and Afrikaans with good communication and interpersonal skills
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Deadline orientated and time management
Self-motivated and results driven
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work under pressure
