Job Description


Orion Real Estate currently has a vacancy for a qualified, competent and experienced IT Support Technician who will be the first line of support for all internal IT issues in the Group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing Level 1 and 2 resolution for certain users, as well as providing support and resolution to all software and hardware issues concerning laptop/desktop computers, mobile devices/phones, and peripherals/printers within the environment.
  • Timely and correct troubleshooting and problems as well as offering end-user assistance and training, where necessary.
  • Assembling peripherals and accessories and installing the right operating systems, as required.
  • Addition, removal, and preservation of accounts of users on all servers, including changing of password, resetting of accounts, and removal of accounts of employees whose jobs have been terminated.
  • As and necessary, ensuring user level assistance for issues concerning the company's IT Environment, and also ensure that server room is kept and maintained in an organized manner.
  • Maintenance of rules and monitoring of issues that could be a possible threats to Orion's internal network within the firewall.
  • Server setup and support, maintaining users, shares, GPO, DHCP, DNS, remote cloud servers, migration of servers to newer modern environments, etc.
  • Performing computer, software, and network troubleshooting to identify and diagnose usual problems.
  • The IT Support Technician will also commonly work with an outsourced IT company to ensure networks and systems run optimally and assist with level 3 issues.
Minimum Requirements - Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology
  • Solid working knowledge and experience in an IT environment supporting desktops, laptops, peripherals, and printers, or possession of IT degree/diploma or/and continuing education programme.
  • Proficient in applying tablet, desktop, Server Operating Systems, and all Microsoft applications.
  • Must be in possession of advanced knowledge of Wireless, LAN and Firewall Technologies.
  • Experience working with Microsoft365 and Cloud Remote Access.
  • Possession of advanced knowledge of all Laptop hardware and Desktop types
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and various technical support concepts as well as an understanding of server programs, procedures and best practices
  • Exceptional customer communication and interaction skills
  • Strong ability to work effectively with various levels of an organization.
  • Strong ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and deliver top performance.
  • Strong listening skills in order to fully understand what an end user's needs and/or requests are.
  • Exceptional ability to work optimally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Having experience with working on N-Central and platform of products would be an added advantage.
  • Managing Backup systems.
  • Knowledge on GPOs.
  • Knowledge and experience of Firewall maintenance and upkeep.
  • Proficient Knowledge with SQL.
  • Experience in Protel, Easipos will be a further advantage.
  • Understanding of Sage Evolution, Wordpress and hosting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Third-Party providers.
