ICT Support Engineer - Aliwal North (3 Year Contract)
Job Purpose
To deliver comprehensive support across all ICT systems, including network infrastructure, desktop computing, and web services, while training staff and ensuring the organization's digital systems remain secure, efficient, and up-to-date.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support
Provide continuous technical support for all ICT systems: hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
Monitor and maintain servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and storage systems.
Quickly troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to minimize service interruptions.
Perform routine system updates, security patches, and software upgrades.
2. Desktop Support
Deliver onsite and remote support for PCs, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
Install, configure, and manage operating systems and essential software.
Handle user queries and technical issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Administer user accounts, permissions, and group policies via Active Directory or equivalent tools.
3. Networking
Maintain the organization's LAN/WAN infrastructure and ensure stable network connectivity.
Configure and troubleshoot IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and Wi-Fi systems.
Monitor network performance and security; proactively detect and resolve issues.
Collaborate on network planning, expansion, and optimization projects.
4. Website Hosting and Management
Manage clients official website, maintaining uptime and fast performance.
Execute regular content updates, system backups, and security audits.
Provide support and training on the content management system (CMS).
Analyze and report on website traffic and usage metrics.
5. Staff Training and Capacity Building
Conduct regular ICT training sessions for staff to improve digital literacy and system usage.
Develop user guides, manuals, and FAQs to assist staff with common ICT tasks.
Support onboarding processes by training new employees on ICT tools and protocols.
Stay updated with technology trends and share best practices with internal teams.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
+5 years' experience in ICT support, networking, or systems administration roles.
Demonstrated experience in technical training and end-user support.
Proven experience managing networked environments and website infrastructure.
Key Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in managing ICT infrastructure: Windows/Linux servers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
Strong understanding of networking protocols and systems (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, etc.).
Experience with IT security, backups, disaster recovery, and CMS platforms.
Ability to develop and deliver technical training to non-technical users.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Highly adaptable with the ability to work under pressure and in shifts.
