Job Description


The Network Engineerxe2x80x99s role is to maintain reliable, secure, and efficient data communications networks, including wide area networks (WANs) and local area networks (LANs), through the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of all active network equipment to ensure smooth network operation. The role will manage processes for all network devices and platforms to ensure compliance with requirements, company policies, and industry best practices for Fraser Alexander.
RESPONSIBILITIES Technical

  • Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade corporate customer's networks and in-house servers
  • Install and integrate new server hardware and applications
  • Support and administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates, patches, and third-party applications
  • Monitor required updates
  • Ensure network security and connectivity
  • Specify system requirements and design solutions
  • Manages the installation, securing, repair/troubleshooting and maintenance of LAN and WAN environments, overseeing the implementation of data and network security
  • Maintains the business-as-usual activities around the LAN and WAN environments
  • Test the release of products to minimise user impact and ensure compatibility
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords
  • Resolve problems reported by end-user
  • Liaising with third-party vendors
Governance and Compliance
  • Define network policies and procedures
  • Adheres to the organisation's policies, procedures, and documentation requirements (i.e., change control, etc.)
  • Assists with the organisation's compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Network planning and adopting appropriate network protection solutions
  • Create technical support documentation for systems and applications
Continuous Monitoring and Optimisation
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilisation, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses
  • Research and make recommendations on server system administration


QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSc degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • Certifications such as:
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
    • Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP)
    • Arista Networks (ACE)
    • Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE)
    • CompTIA Network+
    • Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)
    • Brocade Certified Network Engineer (BCNE)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
EXPERIENCE
  • 5-10 years experience in I&T, of which the majority in network roles
  • Experience with firewalls, internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware
  • Proven experience in a network administrator role
  • Hands-on experience in networking, routing and switching
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
