Our client is seeking an IT professional to ensure smooth, secure, and reliable broadcast and office operations. The role includes managing on-air networks, maintaining servers and hardware, securing data, supporting staff, and overseeing disaster recovery. The individual will handle vendor relationships, manage technical budgets, maintain all connectivity services, and ensure effective access and security controls.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage On-Air Networks

• To provide fast, responsive support for any queries relating to the G Selector and Newsroom networks
• Prioritize Zeta, Studio then Office Network
• Consider the pressures of a live studio environment and the importance of attending to any matter relating to On Air and limiting downtime.

Manage Technical Resources and Support Services

• Maintain servers, both physical and virtual
• Ensure security of data, network, and backups.
• Audit systems and identify problem areas.
• Maintain hardware (including UPS)
• Maintain printers.
• Manage telephone system.
• Manage software licensing e.g. AV, Office, KLZ
• Attend to the technical requirements or requests of Management and staff in an expedient manner.

Ensure reliability and speedy downtime recovery

• Implement failsafe, contingencies, and redundancies.
• Maintain Disaster Recovery.

Management relationships with Vendors/Suppliers (SLA's)

• Seacom (Fibre)
• RJ45 (Microwave Link, Firewall and Email)
• Outsource Digital (Printers)
• Sentech (Broadcast)
• Paul Switch UP (PABX and Phone System)

Manage Technical budget

• Set annual budget - Set budget October every year.
• Monthly technical expenses report - Ensure monthly budgets below.

Manage Connectivity

• Seacom (Fibre)
• Sentech (STL)
• Office (emails)
• PC Networks (wireless)
• Firewall (RJ45)
• Telkom (ADSL)

Manage Access control and security

• Access control
• Cameras
• Panic Button
