Overview
A Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Analyst is a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the IT Asset Management (ITAM) field. The HAM Analyst in the GGL team, will manage the hardware asset lifecycle across GGL platforms to reduce the total cost of ownership whilst ensuring compliance to process.
The analyst is to assist with managing and supporting the hardware needs of the organization and to actively track compliance. The analyst is required to have extensive computing knowledge and experience to optimally manage key hardware publishers across a wide range of operating systems (particularly Apple Mac and Microsoft), be able to solve inventory issues, interpret complex environments, and consistently maintain a high level of accuracy. She/he must have a track record of aligning asset management principles to business strategy to support product owners and senior management with decision-making. The analyst must have a passion for problem-solving and continual service improvement with servicing end-user needs.

  • This role will report to the IT Service manager who reports to the office of the CIO.
Responsibilities
The role will be required to execute effective & efficient HAM practices and processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Asset Lifecycle Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all hardware assets, including acquisition, deployment, Utilization, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Coordinate procurement processes with IT Procurement to ensure orders are aligned to meet supply and demand to meet business needs.
  • Monitor and manage warranty and service agreements for hardware assets through asset refresh cycles per site.
  • Manage inventory for disposal in accordance with policy and environmental regulations.
2. Inventory Control & Audit
  • Conduct monthly stock-counts per site
  • Manage the local day-to-day storeroom activities including the inbound and outbound movement of assets
  • Conduct regular audits to verify asset location, status, and compliance with ITAM policies.
  • Implement and maintain asset tagging systems to streamline inventory tracking.
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues raised through audit findings or other means.
3. Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain detailed reports on asset utilization, cost trends, and potential savings opportunities.
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend hardware refresh cycles and retirement plans.
  • Provide regular updates to management on asset performance and adoption of new technologies.
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Manage relationships with hardware vendors and service providers to ensure accuracy of timeous delivery and specifications.
  • Manage third-party courier services for inbound and outbound movement of assets
  • Collaborate with IT, procurement, and finance teams to align asset management strategies with business objectives. This includes the adoption of asset management technologies to improve efficiencies.
  • Support procurement negotiations by providing hardware asset data and specifications of technology.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards related to hardware assets.
  • Develop and enforce asset management policies and procedures.
  • Mitigate risks associated with hardware theft, loss, or misuse through proactive measures.
6. Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance asset management processes and tools.
  • Implement automation and best practices to optimize asset tracking and reporting.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.
7. End User Compute
  • Support the End User Compute team with basic computer and desk setup.
  • Onboard and offboard users from the IT service management platform in alignment with ISO27001 requirements for the business.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provision Windows and MacOS devices.
The HAM analyst must contribute to a high-performance team environment and culture as a high performing member of a self-directed agile working environment.
Proactively seek and provide feedback across a range of stakeholders for the benefit of the team and leverage feedback to consistently improve ITAM service delivery.
Qualifications
  • Relevant Administration and/or Information Technology Bachelor`s Degrees and/or Diplomas
  • CHAM / IAITAM or recognized related IT Asset Management Certification
  • HAM tool agnostic (SNOW and ServiceNow certification an advantage)
  • 5+ Years' experience as a Hardware Asset Management Analyst
  • 2+ Years' hardware inventory and on-site stores management
