BMW Group South Africa is looking for a talented IT Application Operations Specialist to join our Network Health & Automation team! RESPONSIBILITIES

• Development and maintenance on Firewall rule management platform/application

• Alignment with stakeholders (technical requirements as well as process or IT security governance requirements)

• Go-live preparation and post Go-live support

• Problem-, Change- & Incident Management

• Applications Operations support and other operational support as required

• Implement and maintain internal controls that mitigate business risk whilst complying to policy and procedures

• Required to be flexible in terms of taking up different tasks within a project or work

• Willing and able to travel for up to 2 weeks at a time - international

• Proactively propose solutions to improve the support of (new) business processes

• Create and update management and technical documents in Confluence.

• Standby, shift work and public holiday work required from time to time.

• Documenting known errors and resolutions in the solution database

• Preparing User / How-to Manuals and conducting training to other Team Members

Requirements
Required Skills & Experience:

• IT Application Operations Experience

• Firewall rule management (Tufin preferred)

• IT application integration (e.g., REST APIs)

• Strong Linux and network security skills

• Containerization (Docker) & Programming (Python preferred)

• ITIL knowledge (Incident, Change, Problem Management)

• 5+ years experience in IT roles with a focus on application operations

• Linux Administrator Certification & Programming Certification

Advantages Skills Requirements:

• Experience with IT orchestration/automation tools (e.g., Rundeck, Ansible)

• Further programming languages (e.g., JavaScript)

• Strong interpersonal & communication skills (verbal & written)

• Experience with Agile working methods (Scrum, Kanban)

• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet deadlines
