Job Description


Your purpose will be to ensure the effective implementation and management of accounting controls surrounding inventory. Ensuring accurate and timeous reporting and timeous feedback as well as highlighting to management risks within the organization and assisting in driving financial control in the business.

Other duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare daily, weekly monthly and annual performance reports
  • Assist with biannual stock counts
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analyse variances
  • Perform a reconciliation between the BPCS stock balance (quantity) vs the stock on hand at the distribution agent
  • Follow up regarding the integration of the entries on BPCS, ensure there are no errors in the BPCS transactions, and no duplications
  • Analyse variances including Usage / yield variances, Inventory write offs, and Recoveries
  • Review and analyse cyclical counts results
  • Review work in progress, bulk warehouses and open stock processes
  • Provide feedback on risk present in the operation
  • BPCS entries: process month end journals timeously, follow up on manual entries processed to the inventory accounts (check validity and accuracy), and ensure that the provisions are released as soon as the write-downs are processed in BPCS
  • Perform the monthly stock provision calculations, in conjunction with management control, supply chain and quality control
  • Perform a reconciliation between the BPCS stock balance (quantity) vs the stock on hand at the distribution agent
  • Assist with obtaining support from the distribution agent relating to stock queries, such as short receipts, obtaining PODs etc.
  • Assist with ad hoc stock reports requested from management control, finance, supply chain, procurement, or external/internal auditors
Education Requirements:
  • BCom in Accounting/Finance
Job Requirements and Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in inventory accounting
  • MS Packages on Advanced level
  • Financial Acumen
  • Analytical problem solver

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well in teams
