Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Bioinformatics
The Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Bioinformatics invite suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
Main Objectives
Preparation and setting out of basic solutions, more complex reagents with assistance, and dispensing. Setting out equipment required for undergraduate practicals; cleaning of laboratories; stocking of Biochemistry Laboratory lockers; decontamination of all biological waste, including that of the wider campus; ensuring supplies of glassware and plastic ware, and sterilising all routine consumables; quarterly checking of laboratory equipment according to schedules set out on the Preventative Maintenance Programme; moving of gas cylinders into laboratories; driving busses for field trips.
The Requirements
Grade 12 (with pure maths as a subject) or equivalent plus approximately 1 year's relevant experience where such experience includes: -
Knowledge of basic analytical procedures related to the biological sciences
Previous experience working in a laboratory.
Basic mathematical aptitude
A valid, unendorsed driver's license, with PDP, or the ability to get a PDP.

Remuneration per annum (Grade 05):
Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R179 542
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R261 561
