Magic Bullet Solutions (Pty) Ltd is a South African technology company that builds
structured, scalable digital systems
for clients in the education and content space.
Our work focuses on
internal platforms, backend systems, automation, and system-driven workflows
rather than traditional client-facing agency projects. We design and operate systems that generate, manage, and distribute digital content at scale, with a strong emphasis on reliability, ownership, and long-term evolution.
About the Role
We are looking for an
Intermediate Systems & Automation Developer
who can take ownership of core systems and work independently as the
primary developer
on assigned platforms.
This is a
hands-on, responsibility-heavy role
focused on backend systems, automation, and the ongoing operation of internal platforms that support automated content and media workflows.
This is
not a junior role and not a training position
. You will not have a senior developer providing day-to-day supervision or step-by-step guidance. The right candidate is comfortable learning independently, making technical decisions, and being accountable for system outcomes.
The role is
fully office-based in Centurion
.
Key Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining backend systems and internal platforms
Building and evolving automation-driven workflows and system pipelines
Supporting automated media, content, and operational workflows
Integrating third-party services and APIs into cohesive systems
Monitoring, maintaining, and supporting production systems
Ensuring operational continuity through system checks and reporting
Preparing operational and technical reports on working days where required
What We're Looking For
We are
not hiring based on a rigid tech checklist
. We value
systems thinking, practical experience, and independence
.
Relevant experience may include:
Professional development experience (typically 3+ years) working on backend or internal systems
Designing, building, and maintaining systems rather than only user interfaces
Working with automation tools, scripts, job queues, or workflow engines (e.g. n8n, cron jobs, custom automation)
Integrating APIs and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or similar
Using containerisation tools such as Docker
Comfort working in hosted or cloud-based environments
Ability to learn new technologies independently and apply them in production
Experience with
AI-assisted tooling, automation pipelines, or media-related systems
is a strong advantage, but not required.
Practical Requirements
Full-time,
on-premise role based in Centurion
Valid South African driver's licence and
reliable transport required
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00
High level of reliability, accountability, and discretion required due to access to confidential systems and intellectual property
Language
A working understanding of
Afrikaans
is preferred, as some internal communication and context may be bilingual. This is not a strict requirement.
Important Notes
We do
not
offer structured training programmes or formal onboarding tracks
The role requires comfort working independently and taking ownership of systems
If you require close supervision or extensive hand-holding, this role is unlikely to be a good fit
Why Join Magic Bullet
Small, focused team with minimal bureaucracy
High ownership and real responsibility from day one
Work on meaningful systems used in production
Exposure to automation, AI-assisted workflows, and scalable system design
Competitive remuneration based on experience and capability
