Job Description

To prepare accurate cost estimates, develop detailed bills of quantities (BOQs), and oversee budget management to maintain financial control throughout all phases of construction projects.

Key Performance Areas



Cost Management



Preparation of Cost Estimates Compiling Bills of Quantities (BOQs) Cost Reporting Analysing quotations and advising Project Managers accordingly Advise the Finance Department on project payments Provide support to the Finance Department on project costs, budget and other matters Following up on outstanding payments by the funder/client/donors Project forecasting Cost analysis Ensure that all payments are paid to schools Coordinate payments in the absence of the project manager to ensure they are done on time Cost reallocation in case of misallocation of payments Monitoring and tracking of project costs and advising Project Managers accordingly Ensuring that all invoices are collected from site Project close out and final account preparation

Operations



Taking of quantities from the drawings Project Monitoring and Control Management of drawings Compiling cost reports Reconciling requisitions of materials procured with delivery notes and invoices Development of procurement plans Measuring on site Material estimating to prevent unnecessary overspending Conduct site visits Valuations and payments certificates preparation Attending meetings with Project Managers Budget management throughout all phases of the project

Education, Skills, and Experience



National Diploma in Built Management and Quantity Surveying; Bachelor of science in Quantity surveying or similar qualification. Minimum 3 years' working experience Proficient in WINQS. Experience in Order of Magnitude and Elemental Estimating Experience in cost reporting and project cost management Extensive knowledge of building regulations and standards Knowledge of the NPO industry Project management knowledge Costing models Analytical assessment of building structures Understanding of various construction contracts (NEC, JBCC) Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong numerical skills Value engineering Cost estimation skills Bill of Quantities Risk Assessment & Mitigation Integrity and honesty. Analytical and problem-solving Team player
