My Client is hiring an INPUTS TECHNICAL OFFICER that will be based in their Somerset West office and will report directly to the Inputs Coordinator. The position will involve assistance with organic agricultural inputs attestation- and documentary review services (mainly fertilisers and crop protection products) for use in organic agriculture. The position has growth opportunities, including qualifying as an independent Approval Officer within 6-12 months. The work requires a very specific skillset, so on-the-job training is provided which means that a desire and ability to learn, question and troubleshoot is a high priority. This role is suited to someone who with strong customer relationship skills, enjoys working with a solutions-oriented mindset and is interested in the technical composition of products. Your tasks You will be responsible to carry out the following duties: Client Relationship Officer function
Ensure creation of client profiles and completion by client
Be the main contact for all Inputs service clients and communicate important information
Follow-up of corrective actions after report submission
Allocate auditors and follow-up of report deadlines
Approval Officer function
Review agricultural inputs for use in organic agriculture according to EU, NOP and JAS standards
Update of information in the Ecocert inputs database
Profile Education
Tertiary degree or diploma in agriculture, ecology, chemistry or other relevant qualification. CropLife, FERTASA or similar courses will be beneficial.
Language:
Multilingual (English and Afrikaans) both spoken and written.
Technical skills:
Interest and understanding of ingredients, chemical elements, microorganisms and their functions in agriculture.
High level of computer literacy and ability to quickly learn new digital tools.
Behavioural skills:
Self-confident
Willing to learn and organized to the point of perfectionism
An interest and/or experience in sustainable agriculture and compliance management would be beneficial.
