We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven
Inland Sales Manager
to lead our Johannesburg-based sales team and drive regional growth in alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
Sales Strategy & Planning:
Develop, implement, and monitor effective sales strategies to achieve inland revenue targets and support overall company goals.
Goal Setting:
Translate organisational objectives into realistic, measurable sales targets for the team.
Market & Competitor Analysis:
Identify market trends, opportunities, and threats to guide sales strategy and product positioning.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to ensure long-term satisfaction and retention.
Sales Reporting:
Prepare and present comprehensive monthly reports highlighting performance, challenges, and corrective actions.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the marketing team to plan campaigns and promotional initiatives supporting sales growth.
Negotiation & Deal Closure:
Support team members in closing high-value deals, ensuring profitability and client satisfaction.
Process Improvement:
Continuously review and enhance sales processes to improve efficiency and customer experience.
Compliance & Ethics:
Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies, legal standards, and ethical business practices.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Liaise with finance, operations, and customer service departments to ensure seamless order fulfilment and client delivery.
People Management
Leadership & Coaching:
Lead, mentor, and motivate Business Development Managers (BDMs) to achieve individual and team objectives.
Performance Management:
Conduct quarterly performance reviews through the company KPI system and implement improvement plans where necessary.
Training & Development:
Facilitate ongoing sales and product training to ensure the team remains informed and competitive.
Conflict Resolution:
Address team or client-related issues promptly and effectively, maintaining a positive work environment.
Financial Management
Budget Oversight:
Manage departmental budgets and control expenditure in line with company policies.
Sales Forecasting:
Prepare accurate forecasts to support financial and inventory planning.
Revenue & Margin Growth:
Drive sales performance with a focus on high-margin products and sustainable profitability.
Credit & Risk Management:
Collaborate with finance to uphold sound credit policies and minimise financial risk.
Cash Flow Awareness:
Participate in weekly cash flow meetings and monitor the financial impact of sales activities.
Inventory Control:
Coordinate with supply chain and finance teams to optimise inventory levels, avoiding overstocking or shortages.
Financial Compliance:
Ensure accurate record-keeping in Microsoft NAV and adherence to financial reporting standards.
Additional tasks may be assigned by management as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent SAQA-recognised qualification in Management.
Minimum
5 years' experience
in a senior sales or management role;
or
a relevant tertiary qualification with
3+ years
in a comparable leadership role.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite
.
Experience in
Microsoft NAV
(advantageous).
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Proven ability to drive sales performance and manage teams effectively
