Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Certifications in industry relevant Information Technology Products and Services (e.g., Microsoft / AWS), specific to:

• Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Azure
• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Apple MAC

Ideal:

• A relevant degree in IT (e.g., B.Sc., B.Eng., post-Grad)

Job Knowledge
A thorough and in-depth understanding of:

• End user and distributed IT systems and infrastructure
• Desktop design standards and implementation strategy
• Documenting of IT systems, infrastructure standards and SOP's
• Microsoft Windows operating system architecture and application integration
• Active Directory and Group Policy management systems (Azure AD, EntraID, AGPM)
• Identity and Access Management (AD Security and Group Management, Multi-Factor Authentication)
• Security relevant to end user devices (Group policy configuration, EDR, Encryption, Remote Wipe)
• Managing compliance levels, across the software stack (O/S, MS Office and 3rd Party applications)
• System Centre Configuration Manager (Advanced use of and Troubleshooting of the system) Knowledge in scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, Bash.
• End User hardware and peripherals (DELL, Lenovo, Apple)
• Print Management Solutions (e.g. Y-Soft, Lexmark)
• Cloud Service Providers (Azure, AWS) o Microsoft 365 Services (Teams, Power Platform, Power BI, O365).
• Microsoft Intune and Conditional Access Policy Management.
• Cloud Management Gateways (e.g. Azure, SCCM, Cloud Flare)
• Networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, Routing, Switching
• Virtual Desktop Technologies (Azure VDI, AWS Workspaces)
• Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online and SMTP relay type systems (PostiFix)
• SCCM (Architectural design and configuration of the system, creating reports)
• Software packaging, task sequencing, WIM creation, Driver injection etc.
• Observability tooling (e.g. Grafana, Instana, Pager Duty)

Ideal / Optional

• Software Asset Management processes and systems
• Linux Operating Systems
• Audio Visual and Collaboration services (Polycom, Logitech, Yealink, Cisco, Microsoft Teams Rooms)
• SQL knowledge
• Restful API web services
• Prometheus
• GitHub
• Ansible
• Terraform

Experience
Min:

• 5+ years ICT experience in the end-user computing environment, in a lead role
• 3+ years design and implementation of desktop hardware, software and management systems servicing the end-user computing environment in large enterprise organisations.

Ideal:

• 3+ years in desktop infrastructure maintenance, using End User Cloud Management technologies.
