The IIE Vega, Durban Campus has a vacancy for a Part-Time Information Specialist for the 2025 academic year.

The part-time Information Specialist is responsible for helping to manage the daily operations of the Information Centre on an ad hoc basis when required in order to optimally support the Teaching and Learning at the Brand.


This entails effective and efficient operation of a blended digital learning Information Centre in an academic setting and the management of all information and research support services to cater for the needs of the academic teams, researchers and students according to the research strategies and policies.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Bachelors Degree (NQF Level 7) in Library and Information Science or B.Bibl Degree Ideal: Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) or Master's Degree (NQF Level 9) in Library and Information Studies. An English major will be an advantage. Legal: Professional registration with Library Information Association of SA (LIASA)

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

Industry experience or subject matter expert in an academic library setting Experience in use of Information Centre Databases Experience in tracking of Book Orders and Journal Subscriptions Referencing and Plagiarism Digital Literacy and Information Fluency Must be competent in Information Centre Administration, Provision of information services and general administration.

Working Conditions:

Salary:

Hourly rate commensurate with experience and hours worked.
