The ideal team player will be responsible for safeguarding the organisations computer systems, networks, and data. This role involves identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security measures, monitoring networks for security breaches, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards. The specialist works closely with other IT staff to develop and maintain robust information security practices and policiesRequirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Securiy+, and ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Adutior certificates will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 35 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related IT role.
• Experience with security incident handling and forensic investigations is a plus.

• Must be willing to relocate to the Eastern Free-State and work at VKB Head Office in Reitz

• Strong knowledge of network and system security technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, endpoint protection).
• Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS).
• Proficient in risk assessment and management.
• Understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical security concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong ethical standards and integrity.

• Monitor network and system activity for unusual behavior and potential threats.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities.
• Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and risk analyses.

• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Manage and maintain firewalls, anti-virus software, encryption tools, and other security tools.
• Stay updated with the latest security threats, trends, and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with information security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA).
• Provide training and awareness programs for staff on cybersecurity practices.
• Collaborate with the IT team on secure software development and infrastructure.
• Prepare reports and documentation related to security events, policies, and audits.
