Job Description

Our company is seeking a highly skilled Industrial and Milk Collection Management Accountant with experience in FMCG to join our team, based at our offices in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
The purpose of the role is to provide financial support to the business, within the specific function (Industrial), through the relevant analysis of information using insight and judgement. The end result is to drive the business objectives while supporting improved quality decision making.
Required Skills

  • BComm Accounting Degree (Cost and Management Accounting) with CIMA/CA being advantageous
  • 4-6 years post qualification experience in a financial function within and FMCG environment
  • Good analytical skills Accuracy and details orientated Computer literacy: Advanced Excel and related MS Office Packages
  • Proven track record in financial management, systems implementation, and controls
  • Experience in a FMCG environment, preference to experience within the Dairy Industry
  • Knowledge of BPCS System or similar ERP System and Reporting Tools
  • Knowledge of a standard costing system and understanding of profitability analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities
Industrial and Milkco files o Monthly industrial and Milk collection files reported internally and corporate level. o Direct involvement with all the Plant Financial Manager and Production Accountants on the weekly and monthly reporting. Visiting all the plants at least once each Quarter to review the stock takes, reporting and balance sheet review. o Work closely with Information Technology Department to enhance the reporting of the industrial files so that there is more automation of information. Can be developed in BI-Cube or alternatively system reporting. Automation of industrial files where possible. Make the workload of Plant Financial Manager less on capturing but more on analysis. o Involvement in CAPEX with ROI and the measurement of any savings coming from CAPEX identified projects. o Ensure internal control procedures are in place within Industrial and Milk Collection Departments.
  • Drive continuous cost improvement initiatives and report savings.
  • Follow All the industrial Management Control activity:
o Budget, forecasting and actual reporting: Complete monthly / weekly reports accurately and timely for Industrial and Milk Collection meetings.
o Consolidation of the industrial and Milk Collection files for current month and previous month. Specific focus to be placed on action plans and monitoring of actions in forthcoming months.
o Upload monthly industrial and Milk collection files on IPM (Industrial Production Management) timeously on FTP site per accounting calendar.
o Milk balance between Milk Collection and the Plants. Work closely with milk collection to understand the solids delivered to plant and impact. Review with Milk Collection on weekly basis the variances between Paid and Received.
o Weekly reviewing the Mass Balance (GMP solids tracking) on the system with focus on daily disputes. Understanding the internal flow and analytical review done by internal laboratory.
o Direct involvement with all the Plant Financial Manager and Production Accountants on the weekly and monthly reporting. Visiting all the plants at least once a year to review the stock takes, reporting and balance sheet review.
o Enhancement of the labour tracking files and other KPI driven analysis i.e. raw material, DCO, chemicals, no-quality, packaging and ingredients reference to the budgeted targets and previous year
o Saving file is accurately compiled by the respective plants with focus on the KPI's and not variances based on volume and price. Major focus point on a monthly basis will be the savings files versus previous year and budget to be accurately compiled.
o Opening of production items on the ERP system.
o Milk price setting work with Milk Collection Executive to implement effective price management and control. Consider the seasonality of milk solids (fat/mat). Benchmarking with global milk prices and trends.
o Milk price and volume forecast monthly with twelve monthly forward view considering seasonality and statistical data.
o All internal processes to be documented and review on a continual basis. Financials o Review balance sheet reconciliations on monthly basis.
  • o Review purchase price variances in Industrial versus Procurement with reconciliation between the two Departments reporting. o Review stock losses monthly. o Review stock days on packaging, ingredients, consumables and spares. o Review open orders on system. o Review usage and price variances.
Budget
  • Assist with the consolidation of the budget and ensure variances are explainable on all the areas of the file.
  • Cross balancing with the various departments.
